18th and 19th Century Sources

Fewer sources of information are available for the 18th century, yet this was a time of great landscape change for Northern Ireland. Some of the best records might be those held for individual estates, but these are not always easily available. However, Tree Registers and the Belfast Newsletter both yielded some interesting and useful information.

In the early 19th century, the main source of information was the First Edition Ordnance Survey maps, the first comprehensive mapping of Ireland, and the Ordnance Survey Memoirs that were produced with them.
