Ancient woodland species

The species data was analysed for 129 sites known from archive evidence alone to be either Long-established or Ancient (1 or 2). The following species were found to be significantly associated with ancient Woodland rather than long-established woodland. Of the 63 species on the list, 41(indicated by *) also appear on other UK lists of ancient woodland species, determined by expert judgement.
