The project

Back on the Map is a project by the Woodland Trust to create a record of ancient and long-established woodland in Northern Ireland for the first time.

Our aim is that this comprehensive inventory, completed at the end of 2006, will guide future strategies to protect, restore and enhance the country’s existing ancient woodland and its biodiversity as a whole.
